Fund LSTA at $300 Million!  

Please call your Congressional representatives and tell them to fund the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) at $300 million for FY 2011. LSTA funding is distributed to states by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) through population-based grants.  LSTA the only source of federal funding for public libraries, and with more and more public libraries facing state and local budget cuts, it is critically important that libraries receive this money. Public Library collaborated with local businesses and professional organizations to present “Book It: The Party” — a social event connecting busy people through friendship, food, drinks, games, and service. Meet a winner of the national I Love My Librarian Award

Nominations are now open through September 20 for the 2010 Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award.  The award really is a big deal:  up to 10 librarians in public, school, college, community college and university libraries nationwide will win $5,000 and be honored at an award reception in New York, hosted by The New York Times.  The 2010 winners will be announced in December.  In the meantime, let’s take a look back at previous years’ winners.
