What do “The Karate Kid,” “Clueless,” “Before Sunrise,” and “The Big Chill” have in common (besides being great films that hold-up over multiple watches)? They’ve all been added to the National Film Registry for 2025 by the Library of Congress.
On December 17, the Library of Congress announced the latest batch of films being added to the National Film Registry. Twenty-five films are added to the registry each year in recognition of their cultural, historic, or aesthetic importance and to raise awareness for film preservation.
On December 13, the Library of Congress announced the films being added to the National Film Registry for 2023. The registry selects 25 films annually that showcase the range and diversity of American film heritage to increase awareness for its preservation.
