The annual announcement of the American Library Association’s Youth Media Awards is the biggest event of the year in the world of children’s publishing—and you can be there!

The Youth Media Awards—which include the prestigious Newbery, Caldecott, Printz, and Coretta Scott King Book Awards—recognize books, videos, and other outstanding materials for children and teens and are recognized worldwide for the high quality they represent. These are the best of the best as chosen by librarians and other media experts.

The Youth Media Awards ceremony is an energetic affair with hundreds of book and library lovers rooting for their favorite youth-centered media. The 2026 Youth Media Awards will be held this Monday, January 26, at 10 a.m. CT in Chicago. For those unable to attend in person, fear not: The award announcements will be livestreamed at ala.unikron.com and on the ALA Facebook page. No registration is required to view.

Please join us as we celebrate some truly exceptional works for kids!

How you can support libraries

With library funding being gutted and censorship on the rise, supporting libraries is more critical than ever. If you’re looking for a way to help, we urge you to become a Supporter of the American Library Association by donating.

At the American Library Association, we are here to protect libraries — today and for generations to come. What does your donation do? It helps a neighbor gain skills to start a business. It helps a child discover themselves through books and programs. And it helps keep libraries strong, open, and free for everyone.

Become a Supporter

Help us fight back. Your donation powers our advocacy on behalf of libraries and library workers everywhere.
