Librarian Named to Time’s List of 100 Most Influential Creators

Mychal Threets

Congratulations to librarian Mychal Threets for being named to the Time100 Creators: Most Influential Digital Voices list for 2025, Time’s inaugural celebration of the digital creators who have emerged to shape our culture. “They are changing what we watch, how we spend our time, what we buy, and how we vote,” says the magazine.

Threets, a recipient of the American Library Association’s I Love My Librarian Award in 2024, has found well-deserved fame as “the internet’s librarian.”

“With a welcoming smile, a signature afro, and visible tattoos of “Where the Wild Things Are” monsters, the 35-year-old creator doesn’t resemble the stereotypical image of a stern, shushing librarian—and that’s exactly the point,” writes Time. “To his 1.6 million followers across TikTok and Instagram, Threets is a joyful advocate for literacy and inclusivity, reminding audiences that libraries are for everyonelibrary cards are cool, and what happens in the stacks makes for great stories.”

Threets, formerly a librarian at Solano County (Calif.) Library, stepped away from the position in 2024, but he’s remained busy and devoted to his mission. This year, he launched a mental health-focused podcast, “Thoughts About Feelings,” co-hosted with fellow creator Blair Imani Ali, and his debut picture book, “I’m So Happy You’re Here: A Celebration of Library Joy,” is scheduled for release in February 2026.

Congrats, Mychal!
