The Library of Congress has added 25 recordings to the National Recording Registry, enshrining them as audio treasures worthy of preservation for all time based on their cultural, historical, or aesthetic importance in the nation’s recorded sound heritage.

This summer’s hottest item can be found in public libraries in Brooklyn—a limited-edition Jay-Z library card. And it’s bringing people into the library. The cards have increased membership by 14,000 accounts this month, Brooklyn Public Library said.
New York Public Library (NYPL) and Queens Public Library (QPL) are recognizing the 50th anniversary of hip-hop with a slew of programs and events, and we’re particularly excited about their limited-edition library cards that celebrate the genre and New York City’s role in making it a global cultural movement.
