Thank You for Being a Friend

Are you a Friend of your library? Then this week is for you!

Coordinated by United for Libraries, the 19th annual National Friends of Libraries Week, observed October 20-26, finds libraries across the United States celebrating and honoring the often-unsung heroes working behind-the-scenes to make a lasting difference for their libraries and communities: library Friends groups.

Since the beginning of the American library movement, Friends groups have been formed by citizens using their collective powers to ensure that our American library legacy remains viable. Friends groups do everything from hosting book and bake sales to organizing fundraisers and authors events to showing up and voicing support for their libraries at town hall and city council meetings. Or they just simply use their power of their voices and pens to spread the word about the great services and value the library brings to the community. There's a Friends group for everyone, from teens, to academics, to media centers.

Visit your local library today to see how they're celebrating their Friends this week!
