Inspired by the real-life story of former NASA flight engineer José Hernández, the film A Million Miles Away follows Hernández on a decades-long journey that takes him from a rural village in Michoacán, Mexico, to the fields of the San Joaquin Valley, to more than 200 miles above the Earth in the International Space Station. It’s a dazzling and touching testament to following your dreams against all odds and one of our favorite films this year.
Hernández credits books with introducing him to the vastness and wonders of space as a kid. In the video below that he made specially for I Love Libraries, he urges everyone to visit their local library, where imaginations and dreams can be nurtured and grow in everything from comics and games to makerspaces and book clubs and beyond. Thank you for your love and support of libraries, José!
A Million Miles Away is available now on Prime Video.
