The American Library Association (ALA) members who will receive "bonuses" from bestselling author James Patterson have been announced!
To celebrate his latest nonfiction title, “The Secret Lives of Booksellers & Librarians," Patterson made a special donation to award bonuses of $200 to more than 200 ALA members from across the U.S. who were nominated and selected. The nomination period for the award was announced in April when Patterson's book was released.
Patterson is the creator of numerous beloved characters and series, including Alex Cross, the Women’s Murder Club, Jane Smith, and Maximum Ride, and the chronicler of true stories about the Kennedys, John Lennon, and Tiger Woods, as well as military heroes, police officers, and ER nurses. He has coauthored #1 bestselling novels with Bill Clinton and Dolly Parton, and collaborated most recently with Michael Crichton on "Eruption." He has received an Edgar Award, 10 Emmy Awards, the Literarian Award from the National Book Foundation, and the National Humanities Medal.
“We are grateful to James Patterson for offering bonuses to hundreds of our members in celebration of the amazing work librarians and library workers do to serve their communities,” said ALA President Cindy Hohl. “We are delighted to announce the bonus recipients to recognize them with this national honor. Congratulations!”
